There's a certain sadness in losing a child. Will knows it all too well, letting his husband ease the grieving process.
Why? I have a handful of Post-Fall fic but I dearly love this one exploring Hannigram as a 'we fake a marriage until we actually fell in love' plot + the emotional complexity of a mpreg miscarriage.

Selina breaks into Wayne Tower to interrupt Bruce's alone time. He gets too much of it, to be honest.
Why? Another tough pick but this has one of my oldest OTPs I've loved since I was a kid and... genuinely every sentence reads so well. Dialogue or prose. Hands down, an excellently in-character fic.

Fíli and Kíli attempt to play a seemingly harmless trick on Bilbo, giving him a concoction sold by a roadsman meant to unconsciously persuade whoever drinks it to tell truths. It backfires spectacularly when Thorin partakes of Bilbo's drinking horn.
Why? It's peak comedy. And I don't know how I did it but I pulled off a suburb "truth serum" trope using (2) unrelated character POVs.

Why? A favorite Batfam gen fic of mine. Overwhelmingly whumpy with the blood/gore/injury. I love whump. I love the Batfamily.
